Antique O.V.B. No. 700 Cast Iron Food Chopper / Meat Grinder, Hibbard Spencer Bartlett
$24
The story
A tinned cast-iron food chopper, cast "No. 700 O-V-B Food Chopper" on one side and "Hibbard Spencer Bartlett & Co. Chicago" on the other. O.V.B. ("Our Very Best") was the house brand of the Chicago hardware wholesaler Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett & Co. It clamps to a table edge and is complete with the auger (feed screw), the four-blade star cutter and the perforated cutting plate (see the last photo).
Please note the condition: there is surface rust on the cutter blade and cutting plate, and some on the auger and around the front ring; the tinned finish is worn; and the wooden crank grip is missing (the crank ends in a bare metal rod). A great piece for a farmhouse kitchen display, or to clean up and use.
