The story

A hand-thrown stoneware pot in a speckled oatmeal glaze with a brown band at the rim and lid edge, two little ear handles and the potter's throwing rings all the way around. Inside, an open chimney rises from a hole in the base. That's the form of a steam pot (Yunnan-style): it sits over a pan of simmering water and the steam comes up through the chimney to cook what's inside. It would also work as a tube baker, or simply as a handsome lidded crock on the counter. The domed lid has a strap handle. Unsigned vintage studio pottery from Leslie's own collection.
