The story
A blue-and-white rimmed soup bowl in the "Tonquin" pattern, made by Royal Staffordshire (A.J. Wilkinson) under the Clarice Cliff name. The center shows a romantic garden scene with a manor house, an arched footbridge, swans and an urn of flowers, ringed by a wide border of peonies and blossoms and a beaded edge. Backstamped "Tonquin, Royal Staffordshire Dinnerware by Clarice Cliff, Made in England". About 8" across; good vintage condition with light crazing.
