The story

A charming country-pottery gravy boat in speckled grey stoneware, hand-painted in cobalt with little sheep grazing between blue bands and finished with a blue-dipped rim. Signed in cobalt brushwork near the base on one side — it looks like "Wrightson," but we haven't been able to confirm the potter. Lovely for gravy or sauce, as a creamer for a crowd, or holding a bunch of wildflowers.

Item #A55

Era
1980s–90s
Maker
Brush-signed on the side, appears to read "Wrightson" (unverified)
Size
About 7 3/4" spout to handle
Condition
Very good — No chips or cracks seen. Light wear on the unglazed base; a few natural specks and kiln marks in the glaze. No maker's mark on the base — only the brushed signature on the side.
